This Will Destroy You - Young Mountain

This Will Destroy You is an instrumental post-rock band from San Marcos, TX. I saw them in Abilene, TX in a tiny coffee shop in 2008, and they completely blew me away. I could not believe how a band with no vocals could convey so much emotion. This is a great record for just hanging out, and a must own for any fans of Explosions in the Sky.

Another Breath - The God Complex

Solid hardcore from upstate New York. While previous recordings have had an American Nightmare vibe to them, this time AB infuse rock n' roll guitar riffs to create a sound reminiscent of The Suicide File, without sounding like they are rehashing either band. The record flows very well lyrically, almost to the point of being a concept album, but without the cheesiness that a concept album implies. I started to list stand out tracks, but every single song makes you want to smash the fuck out of your steering wheel. I guess 'Makyo' is my favorite, because lyrically it is exactly where I was a few months ago. Definitely one of the best hardcore releases of the last 5 years.

The Soft Pack - S/T

The Soft Pack are probably my favorite band out there right now and they play some really good indie surf. My favorite tracks are pull out and parasites. This album has been in constant rotation since I got it.

Surfer Blood - Astro Coast

Surfer Blood Hail from West Palm Beach, Florida. They play a mix of surf and indie that reminds of blue album era Weezer with much more surf influences.
